Hey everybody and good morning/afternoon/evening depending on where this message finds you.
This is going to be a bit long winded but the TDLR is "HEEEEEEELP!! me figure out a two pc setup with best audio and video will even pay)
So a bit about me career tradesman that broke his back and was forced to medically retire as a result. I got really two skill sets if I'm being honest....HVAC/Construction and Gaming!
Now sure disability pays for most of my costs but here I am gaming and all sorts be it mmorpgs or my comically bad warzone skills etc. i spend a lot of time gaming as its my mental escape now.
I figured I see knuckleheads with absolutely terrible streams and even worse gameplay kind of make it.
and I'm not trying to blow up like the big dogs on you tube or twitch i know some of those guys rake in ungodly amounts. me id be happy if i can just maybe earn enough to afford to run the ac a few degrees cooler in the summer ya know.
so that being said this is what I'm trying to do and you all tell me if I'm a knucklehead or not with this.
i am going to go the two system setup and the software i want to use is OBS i was looking into stream labs but something feels off about them. and since they are using OBS as their foundation why not just go to the source.
I mainly use you tube and twitch when watching videos and as such that's where i want to stream so i guess that means a two channel multi-stream.
now for the specs of what we are working with.
Content I intend to make: videogame streaming you tube reactions, and on occasion just personal general streams....i know original right.....lol
Internet source: Fiber 10gbps+
Home network: Hardwired
Systems in Use: 2 (1x Gaming PC 1x Streaming Laptop)
Gaming PC Specs:
CPU: AMD ryzen 9 7950x3d 16 cores 24 threads
Mainboard: Asus RoG x670e dark hero
Ram: 128gb corsair dominator titaniun
GPU: Asus rog stryx OC rtx 4090
Cooling: 3 stage push pull water cooling (GPU Block+ABP+Mainboard Monoblock)
Storage: across SSD and NVME 20tb
OC: just a standard WC profile
Resolution: 2560x1440 240hz
Streaming Laptop Specs:
CPU: Intel I9 13980HX
Ram: 16gb
GPU: RTX 4070
Storage 4tb (system and external)
Resolution: 2560x1600 240hz
Audio and Video Devices:
Mics X2: (1x blue yeti 1x hyper x headphone microphone)
Headphone: Hyperx Gaming Headset
Video: Logitec webcam
what Ive done thus far:
Did a system overhaul and moved all games and secondary programs off C: (yes yes i know moving on)
Installed OBS on both systems: Yes
installed NDI tools on both systems: Yes
Installed the OBS_NDI plugin on both systems: Yes
Now we are caught up to my current status.
Now I have some assumptions but correct me if im wrong.
Though currently my yeti and webcam are connected to my gaming pc I assume the webcam would have to be instead connected to the streaming laptop and the yeti can remain at my gaming pc as that's my coms in game as well. check me.
Now with this NDI i assume its going to send not only the video but the audio as well so anything i am hearing or coms would be sent via the NDI protocol to the streaming laptop where all the encoding can happen correct??
So do i setup my scenes first and where? do i do all the overlay widgets etc. on the streaming laptop?
or do i set everything up on the gaming pc and then send that as a whole to the streaming laptop?
Now i did try stream labs before i was attempting this two pc setup still never got the audio right but i had my webcam in the upper left corner a windows of the same size for full screen you tube videos all while playing my game with a game capture. Id like to get the same thing going in OBS but with this two PC setup
Obviously I'm trying to offload some task to the laptop even though this system doesn't need help But I have it might as well use it.
I've been trying to find videos but a lot I have found is a couple of years old. I really want to get this setup asap so I can really push hard and try to make my gaming generate some rev or at least some LOLs
Any and all help appreciated also where can i purchase some good overlays for OBS I'm willing to spend to make this happen...i mean look at my system. hell id even drop some cloth on anybody willing to help me g through all my settings.
Thank you all so much in advance!
