Bug Report Disable Overlay Capture: Introduces Video Skipping

Hey folks -

This appears to be something kinda new to OBS, I'm just not sure when it started. Background: I run an overlay app called Playclaw, which I use to keep stats up about my CPU and GPU usage and temperatures. I'd rather not send that to the stream, so I have the appropriate box unchecked in the Game Capture source.

Recently, I've noticed some pretty nasty skipping and video lag on my streams, and went bonkers trying to figure it out. To help debug this further, I stopped streaming, and just played my game while keeping an eye on the OBS preview window. It was still skipping/lagging.

After some experimentation, I found that if I enable capture of the overlay, the skipping/lagging goes away completely. The moment I uncheck that box, the problems come back. It doesn't matter if I'm actually streaming/recording or not.

Has anyone else seen this sort of thing? If so, any suggestions? I don't mind sending the overlay to the stream for the time being, but I'd like to find a way around this if possible.

Thanks!

What happens if you disable the overlay entirely?
I wasn't able to replicate the problem during my first few tests this morning. Thanks for the suggestion; I'm still digging around. Edward also just launched Playclaw v6, so I'll see if that improves/changes anything.

OK; go ahead and close/kill this. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue again. It must have been something else going wrong with Playclaw or the interaction between it, the game, and OBS. But everything seems to have cleared up.
