Question / Help disable encoding while previewing ?

I'm doing this workaround (See below) to get rid of screen tearing and still being able to use 1440p 144hz on my 2 pc stream set up. It's telling me to "disable encoding while previewing" but I can't find that option for the life of me.

OBS Studio doesn't do encoding while only using the preview.

Ok so it's not on in the first place? Sounds good. Hoping this workaround does wonders. Do you know why in the article they Specify DVI as opposed to HDMI or Display port? Some type of different quality signal?
