Question / Help Digital Mixer [XR18/X-air App] as Audio Input Capture

So I already understand that ASIO is not an option but heard from others that there may be a setup like this that will work:
XR18 -> [USB] -> Windows [change from "realtek" sound card to "Behringer XR18" in control panel] -> OBS Audio Input Capture.

I experimented with this setup for a couple of hours last night and didn't get anywhere. I have experimented with Sends/Returns on the XR18, changing the windows sound option from realtek to XR18 and various changes to OBS Audio Input. If I had to venture a guess I would say that the routing on the XR18 is not setup correctly.

I know this is reviving an old thread but honestly I also wish there was a fix for this. OBS and other broadcast software should really support ASIO as it is a pretty standard audio necessity. I too have the X Air XR18 and it is an excellent mixer for a home/broadcast studio setup. If the OBS devs could even just THINK about looking in to ASIO support, so many options would become available to streamers.

On the topic at hand though, OP, have you tried using the XR18 as a standard interface using voicemeeter or something similar? I did get mine to work temporarily until there was an OBS update that messed that up as well.

There is a ASIO plugin for OBS: https://github.com/pkviet/obs-asio
The downside is that you have to compile it yourself because of the licencing. That's the biggest problem with using ASIO in almost any open source software.
From the mentioned Github:
Where are the binaries ?
There aren't any for legal reasons. Unfortunately Steinberg freely provides the ASIO SDK but forbids redistribution of its code.
This is incompatible with GPL v2 under which OBS-Studio is licensed.
