Question / Help dedicated streaming PC freezing when adding Razer Ripsaw as video capture device

Hello my friends!

I wan't to keep it short: When I'm adding a video capture device (my razer ripsaw) to OBS Studio on my streaming PC my PC starts literally slowing down and freezes every few seconds for like one second.
What have I done so far:
- reset PC to factory defaults (fresh win10 installation)
- updated all drivers
- ran all available windows updates (1809 17763.288)
- installed (of course) razer synapse 2.0
- check CPU temprature when under load (coretemp + prime95: max 68°C on all cores)
- created a completely new scene collection and readded everything (this is where I noticed that the razer ripsaw seem to be the problem)
- deactivated Game Mode
- set energy options to maximum performance
- set system environment variable to maximum performance
- execute OBS with the following options enabled:
-- [x] disable fullscreen optimizing (I don't know if it is translated correctly - I am using german system ^^)
-- [x] Run program as administrator

Additional info:
- when I disable the OBS preview the PC and respectively OBS runs a bit smoother, but is still lagging/freezing
- disabling the hardware acceleration in OBS Studio didn't help
- disabling vsync in nvidia control panel didn't help
- set graphics card to maximum performance in nvidia control panel didn't help
- when I hit "start streaming" the PC is freezing so hard that the bitrate is dropping to 0, then up to 6000, then down to 0, and so on

It doesn't matter with which settings I run the stream, it's always lagging/freezing. Even with 720p/30fps on veryfast. Like around one week ago everything was fine tho. 900p/60fps on faster went smooth! Already tried uninstalling the latest windows updates - without success...

And now I'm done... I have no idea what else could cause this problem! Log attached.

Maybe some of you have an idea what else I can do? I'm thankful for every hint, every help and any idea!!!!!

Kind Regards
Maggi

Hello Tomasz,

thanks for the reply! As mentioned in my opening thread I created a completely blank scene collection. Added only one video capture device (the razer ripsaw) and right after adding the freezing/lagging begins.

First I have even seen something like this

Code:
20:04:24.222: [x264 encoder: 'streaming_h264'] settings:
20:04:24.222: rate_control: CBR
20:04:24.222: bitrate: 6000
20:04:24.222: buffer size: 6000
20:04:24.222: crf: 0
20:04:24.222: fps_num: 536
20:04:24.222: fps_den: -131072
20:04:24.222: width: -1
20:04:24.222: height: 1936482662
20:04:24.222: keyint: 0

20:05:15.270: Output 'adv_stream': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 54 (1.8%)
20:05:15.270: Output 'adv_stream': Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 1419 (48.5%)
20:05:15.271: Video stopped, number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 36/2979 (1.2%)

You may want to consider just wiping out your OBS settings folder but first back up/export your scene collection.

Then go to File>Show Settings Folder
Exit OBS, delete the obs-studio folder in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\

Launch OBS, it is now factory reset.

Configure your desired Base and Output, FPS, then import your Scene Collection. or Don't, and add just the Ripsaw.
Setup your encoder.

Also, physically unplug your webcams, only have the Ripsaw plugged in, the log is throwing errors that you don't have enough system resources
