Question / Help Decent performance tweaking for "veryfast" preset

Hey x264 experts :D,

so I'm just thinking about some lite performace tweaks using the veryfast preset for recording.
Don't get me wrong: presets are totally fine and i usually there's no need to do tewaks.
But i need some margin in cpu power. thinking about not getting over 80% cpu usage

Although I have a i7 4790k cpu 1080p@60 with veryfast preset CAN drop some frames due encoding limit on very complex images.

so my first tweak is to disable bframes (bframes=0) and it helps a lot and i do not see quality loss

any ideas what i can also can do to get a light performace boost without losing quality?

A more appropriate place to ask this question is to go to the #videolan channel on irc.freenode.org and ask your question there. They are x.264 devs that are going to know low level details.
