Question / Help CSGO FPS Drops down

Hey guys!

I recently build a new computer because of the interest in my stream.

Specs:
Intel Core i7 6700K - 4GHz
Asus Z170-A
DDR4 16GB Memory
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

So I started my stream in H1Z1 without any problems. Later I went to CSGO - at first no problems - but then i entered matchmaking de_train. After that I've been dropping down under 100 fps - i run around 150-200 fps with OBS active. When I stop streaming my fps goes up to 350+ instantly. My CPU is under 50C btw.

So now I'm trying with you guys...

Under here is a list of things I already tried:
  • Reinstall CSGO
  • Verify files
  • Change autoexec - new/delete
  • All kind of launch option commands
  • Deleted my OBS profiles and creating new ones
  • Different OBS settings (bitrate, encoder, x264/NVENC etc.)

CSGO must be pushing the cpu a little more than H1Z1, there are a few render / lag spikes in the log, try running it at 720p 30fps or swap the preset from veryfast to superfast keeping 720p at 60fps.

According to the percentage of the rendering lags, it looks okay. But given CSGO shouldn't fully utilize the GTX 1070 even with 8x MSAA I wonder what's going on with this. Unless you're using AA flags on Nvidia Inspector that would make sense but that feature was blacklisted on CSGO due to the smoke grenade exploit on that so that can't be the case.

Changing from veryfast to superfast won't reduce the rendering lags since that is CPU-bounded but lowering the max FPS on OBS can. If you're using high MSAA in the game I would suggest reducing it to 2x or turning it off entirely.

Hi,

Changing the CPU preset will reduce the lag as hes using "x264 encoder: 'simple_h264_stream" which is cpu encoding. The 1070 is doing very little in this process within OBS bar some downscaling to 720p.
