Bug Report Crashing and Stability Issues Ever Since 0.16.5

Hello!
Ever since the 0.16.5 update of OBS Studio the program has become less and less stable to the point where I straight up just can't open the program anymore with the latest 17.0.0 version. When I do get OBS to open I can't start a stream, and if I start recording I can't stop the program from recording, the button will just be stuck on "Stopping recording..."

So far I'm able to run version 0.16.0 and 0.16.1 without any problems (haven't gotten to try versions 0.16.2 through 0.16.4 yet to see those run stable but I know 0.16.5 is when the problems REALLY started happening)

I'll include the necessary log files and system specs since I'm sure those will be helpful and will just stick with 0.16.1 for now.

Specs:
  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
  • Intel Core i7 4790k
  • 16GB of DDR3
  • XFX AMD Radeon R9-280x
  • MSI z97 PC Mate Motherboard

I've used an Elgato capture card in the past but quickly replaced it with an Avermedia Live Gamer Portable due to the Elgato just being a bad product in my opinion.

The reason I ask is that the crash you posted is likely a memory leak caused by a capture device (i.e. webcam or capture card). Since this is happening outside of OBS' control, that's why everything says <unknown> in the crash log. Most commonly, we have seen the Elgato cause this type of crash. Are you adding the LGP through the StreamEngine?

Oh I see, that would make sense if it was my capture card causing the issue. I do use the Stream Engine when adding the LGP, I'll remove all the sources that use the LGP and see if that changes anything.

It's definitely the LGP causing the issue, OBS Studio 17.0.0 launched perfectly when I removed the LGP from my sources but refused to open again once I added the LGP again. I guess I'll be sticking with 0.16.0 until there's a fix implemented.

Thanks so much for the help Fenrir!

We've been seeing an increased reports in capture cards causing these types of crashes recently, it's curious that an older version works as there haven't really been any changes to the video capture device source in a while. Would you be willing to help run some tests as it seems you're able to reliably replicate the issue on your end?

Yeah of course, anything to help the development of OBS Studio. Just let me know what needs to be done.
