Question / Help CPU Usage + Logitech C920 settings

Hey!

Question about settings for streaming:
I wake up and wonder with one little thing. Does my C920 webcam resolution (higher) increase CPU usage in OBS? A while ago I found a nice guide for webcams (guide here original name "Gettin the most out of your webcam"). I use it but I lowered my webcam resoulution from 1920x1080 to 800x448. I wonder is it a point to lower webcam resolution or not? The guid I linked was created at 2012 since there a lot of change with PCs. So should I keep settings from this guide and upper my webcam resolution to 1920x1080? What settins do you use guys?

Best regards,
Domin1Q!

There's a ton of factors at play. If you have your webcam as a small box in the corner of your stream, then there's no point in running it at the full 1920x1080. It will take more CPU (marginally) to decode the 1080p signal as opposed to something lower, but your biggest concern will be USB bandwidth. Especially with USB 2.0 cameras, they can struggle to provide a clean signal at 1080p 30fps, even if the camera says it supports it. You'll just have to test and see. Webcams have not really changed much since that guide was written.

Fenrir you just said all what about I was thinking. So If the place for my webcam is lower than webcam resolution (800x448) there is no point to make my webcam resoltion higher I guess...
