Question / Help CPU Usage Is Insanely Higher Than Before

Hey everyone, I've been using Studio for quite some time now but lately I've noticed that my CPU usage has doubled. I was using 720p30 with the very fast preset. (Bitrate 3200) I used to get about 12% usage but know I'm getting a way over 20%. I've brought this down to super fast and I lost a couple %'s but the quality is just horrible. Does anyone have an suggestions on what has happened. For comparison 1080p super fast gives me the same usage as 720p very fast.

For some reason I can't get it to upload. I'll try again tomorrow, could I just get people's opinions or thoughts. Is 12-19% CPU usage normal for 720p30 @3500? And also like C-Dude said, is it better to do 1080p at super fast or 720p at very fast. Which would look better or would they be the same. Looking forward to your input -Sam

Your CPU usage would vastly depend on what CPU you have. Which is one of the reasons I need a lot so I can see your hardware. (12-19% is not very high for streaming)

720p at veryfast is ALWAYS better than 1080p at superfast. 1080p on twitch always looks blocky when there is movement unless you have some insane CPU that can handle a much slower preset. This is because twitch only allows up to 3500 kbps which is very low for 1080p so you would need a ton of compression which uses a ton of CPU power to compress it enough to stop it from looking blocky. For 720p you can much more easily compress it to look good at 3500 kbps.

your log looks completely fine. Video encoding and compression uses a lot of processing power, and on an i5-6600 it should be using a fair amount at veryfast on even at 720p30.

You are fine. There aren't any dropped frames. I don't know about it doubling, but it sounds like your current is about what is should have gotten before. Were you using NVENC before?

No I wasn't. I was using the exact same settings. I've been doing a lot of testing and it doesn't seem to be hitting my game performance. I'll keep testing for now. Thanks for the help dude.
