Question / Help CPU recommendation for 1080p @ 60fps (medium preset or slow)

Hi,

With the removal of bitrate limitation from Twitch, the 1080 @60fps streaming is now allowed by Twitch (with maximum of 6000kbs).

I'd like to know if there a recommendation build for one pc streaming, or if not, a dedicated streaming PC (thus 2-pc streaming) for the 1080p @ 60fps (with medium preset or slower). Any help would be great.

Thank you

Or one of the Ryzen 7s. From this thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/twitch-quality-to-low.65746 the logs show a Ryzen 7 1700 handling 720p on Slow. I'm confident then it could do 1080p on Medium. You might go for the 1800 or 1800X to have a chance at 1080p60 on Slow.

The first way would be cheaper and faster if you can find a reasonably priced dual CPU motherboard, but with the added complication for dealing with ebay. I did it successfully though, some logs here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/47bzdc/budget_friendly_secondary_streaming_pc_guide/d1a2c88

Thank you, and I was thinking of getting the dual CPU set-up too for the second dedicated streaming PC. But not sure if OBS would support that, I can also use that to render video too. But got confirmed by you.

Any count of cpus can be used by x264, no matter if you got 4 cpus with 2 threads or 2 cpus with 4 threads. Less cpu with more threads is likely to give you slightly better results though, as the connection between cores is usually better.

Since the post is one year old , should I still stick with those CPUs or there are alternative dual CPU that are better?

You can check to see if better CPUs are on ebay for a similar price, certainly. But if not then I'd go with the ones it says in the guide.
