CPU grinds to a halt when playing a video??

I don’t see how this could be happening. Running a Ryzen 9 5950x with 64 GB ram, rtx2070 super and current version of OBS (stream elements plugin as well)

when select transparent videos are visible on an overlay, CPU usage on almost all cores shoots to 100% and my FPS grinds to a halt

im curious to know if this is to be expected? My machine isn’t exactly “weak” and I can’t seem to figure out a solution as it does the same thing with .mov or .webm and even some transparent GIFs…this happens both live and offline while testing, and I’m not playing games, just 2 decklink quads and a basic audio input through a UA volt

Please post a log with your issue! Here's how...

OBS Studio creates a log file each time you run it which contains very useful diagnostic information. Without a log file, it's much harder for any support volunteers to figure out problems and your post may be ignored. To upload a log file, go to the Help menu > Log Files > Upload Last Log...
