Constant lag makes recording online videos impossible

I have used OBS Studio for a few years and it's always been great. Until this year. I am able to record offline videos without issue, but for online videos it no longer works. No much which site I try to record video off, for example catch up and streaming services - which I record programmes off to keep for my own personal use - the lag is terrible, making recording impossible. I don't understand why this has become an issue and seemingly can't be fixed?

You have to contact this services support about the issue. Copyright protection related.
And for obvious reasons only them can allow a bypass of this protections.

1. +1 to what PaiSand said
2. did you upgrade OBS Studio to latest version? if yes, and you have plugins, or older GPU, that could be your problem. If you have OBS Studio v27 or earlier, tand upgraded ot latest OBS Studio, many plugins won't work anymore (or may be causing issues which you may or may not notice)
- and some other things changed in terms of encoding...

For testing, trying record a local source (nothing copyright protected, nothing streamed, etc... 100% local) and watch system resource (CPU, GPU, RAM, Disk, etc) utilization
