Question / Help Console capture card streaming

Hi guys

So I've streamed PC games before and just bought a Xbox one and capture card to stream as well. I was wanting some help with stream settings as I believe I can stream at higher quality because I don't have the strain of a game on my PC and it's solely being used for obs.

PC specs ;-

I5 4690k OC 4.4ghz
Gtx 770
16GB RAM

Streaming with a Elgato HD60

Thanks In advance

Hi,

Assuming your a non-partnered twitch streamer then i would recommend the below depending on what you want to achieve.

option 1 - full bandwidth to twitch (assuming you have above 4mb internet upload) Note this option also limits your viewers as they must be able to download @ 3.5mb the steam without buffering.

(a)
High motion games e.g. bf1, arma

-x264
-720p
- 60fps
- CBR
-3500
- cpu pre set veryfast (adjust to your cpu load, if its still light go to faster and keep dropping until you get issues)

(b)
Low motion e.g. LoL, Harthstone

-x264
-1080p
- 30fps
- CBR
- 3500
- cpu pre set Ultrafast (adjust to your cpu load, if its still light go to faster and keep dropping until you get issues)

option 2 - limited your upload to the recommend non-partner upload bandwidth to twitch to maximise on vewer experiance e.g. no buffering as they only require 2mb download to stream. To achieve this your internet needs to be around 2.3mb upload.

Thanks for the response bob, sorry for the lack of info in my head I added the upload speed and game I was planning on streaming but it didn't process into my fingers :D

My upload is 20Mb so bitrate would be no issue and I'm playing COD so it's high motion.

I wouldn't really want to limit my viewership as I am not partnered but I also want good quality so I need to balance the two. Do you think 'Option 2a' but changing to 60fps would be a good compromise to the above.

Would you also know anything about audio with regards to this as the capture card doesn't pick up the party chat on Xbox one

Kind regards Mason

No problem my fingers are the same or work to fast and it just comes out as garbled letters :-)...

Ok then I would try 2a but up the bitrate to 2500 and fps to 60 or if its still not great quality 3000 but as always you need to find that sweet spot of quality, bandwidth to user experience. I've been i'm using 2700 atm 720, 60fps high motion and all seems ok but i'm never happy lol. The other options is drop from 720p.

Note : if you want to keep to 2000 then only use 30fps at 720p or drop the 720p lower and up to 60fps.)

How are you sending the audio? are you trying to send it via the HDMI into the HD60? is it only the party chat that isn't going across and the game audio is?

I only bought the capture card yesterday and have been trying to find guides, the way it is hooked up currently is hdmi from monitor> capture card> hdmi to Xbox.

I have 'bodged' the audio, the capture card picks up game audio automatically.

I have 2 headsets currently. First one is my Xbox headset this is a HyperX Revolver and is used to hear my game audio and game microphone, this is connected to the controller using the Xbox stereo adapter.

The second headset is a steelseries Siberia which is connected to my PC and is solely being used as a microphone for my stream.

I feel like there is a better way to do this if you have any suggestions.

First time console streaming so not clued up on this sort of stuff.

The problem with the windows 10 thing is I would have to plug the mic and Auido jack into the PC the I wouldn't have game noise through my headset.

The audio can be controlled on the pc and you should only need one headset then connected to the PC and the Xbox sending picture and Audio down the HDMI. Use VB cable then to pull all that sound into your headset via the virtual audio mixer Voice Meeter e.g.

Windows Playback
Xbox Game Audio - HDMI
Party Chat - Realtek

using VB Cable and Voice Meeter as I would recommend this over virtual audio cable

VM input
HDMI - X Game A
Realtek - Party Chat

VM Output
HDMI to VB-Cable (output 1)
RealTek to VB-Cable (output 1)

in Windows playback options set your default playback device to VB-Cable. this should bring all the sound into your headphones from both sources.

the above might not be correct and will require some tailoring for your windows audio but it should help to give some idea of how it needs to be configured.

Voice Meeter & VB Cable are free or you can donate just search on google for download link.

Not gonna lie that kinda confused me :D

So I would have my hyperx main headset plugged into my PCs microphone and audio jack.

And I Would have to download both programs?

The thing which I'm confused at is how I will hear the game audio (not the stream but me personally)

Np probs audio is a pain, best to keep it as simple as you can, i'm still messing with mine now lol.

But yes hyprex into pc, use the windows app for party chat as per that reddit url, then use VM which acts as a audio mixer to bring all your audio into one headset, basically your two inputs Xbox Audio and PC audio (Party chat) into a single output into your hyperX headset.

Ah I understand more now, I'm at work currently but I go home for lunch in 15mins so I will download the programs and have a play. If I run out of time I'll have to try it tonight.

Thanks for the help so far Bob it's much appreciated!!
