Question / Help Connect a HDMI camara to OBS

How OBS will recognise an HDMI input when a device output is connected to a MACBook Air.
Do i need a device to convert HDMI to USB i?
Or is it possible to use the Thunderbolt

/ Mini DisplayPort

with a adaptor cable to HDMI.
For Windows the is StreamCatcher to get the video stream into OBS. Is there an App. also for MACOS.

No. You need a capture device for this, an adaptor does not suffice.

Do check your camera's compatibility on Elgato first tho.

Strongly advise against use of Elgato capture hardware with MacOS given their poor track record for transparency and support.

Magewell, BlackMagic, and AJA all work very well and have standard video device drivers. Multiple Elgato products claim MacOS compatibility but either don't work with anything but their own software and/or require NDI as a workaround.
