Question / Help Complex setup

Hello, I have a small conference room. I want to configure the stream.
So far I have an HDMI 4x4 matrix, 4 inputs 4 outputs. I have an HDMI camera that goes to the HDMI matrix and then from matrix to tv. I have a notebook with a PowerPoint presentation.
I connected the notebook to the HDMI matrix and the output from the matrix to the projector. And now I want to setup OBS on the second computer. I have 2 HDMI outputs from the matrix with camera and power point presentation. What can I do? Should I buy two video grabbers like AverMedia Live gamer HD or is there another way to do this?

If you want it really simple for the presenter to just plug-n-go, and the camera only has HDMI-out... Yeah, you end up with 2 HDMI outputs that you want to capture. The only way to get them into a PC for streaming would be some type of capture card.

Other options could be if you get a capture box that creates a network stream that you can get into OBS, but that's probably more expensive and I don't know any products off the top of my head.

If the camera can output video over USB that would of course make your life easier, but that's not too common I don't think, especially not while outputting HDMI at the same time.

For the presentation laptop you could run OBS and output a network stream to your live stream computer, but that doesn't solve the camera issue and also adds even more complexity.

I think your solution with two capture cards (or 1 card with 2 inputs) is probably what you're looking for.

Maybe someone else on here has more experience with live production and can suggest something else...

This schematic I drew, is this what you're doing, ye?

Yes, that's what I'm doing.

I found this capture card with two HDMI inputs - AVerCaster HD Duet Plus. It can emit and even record. But as you said it's way more expensive than two capture cards.

I also thought about streaming a presentation from OBS to my "streaming computer". However, this makes everything more complex for the presenter, and my camera is able to output video via USB and HDMI but not at the same time.

You mentioned two input cards. Do you know a particular model? And what about outputs. Is there a capture card with two inputs and two outputs or maybe it's mixed somehow to one output.

I'm really glad for your reply. Thanks for the help.

Since you already dealt with the PowerPoint and camera output to the projector and TV, you don't really need to worry about outputs from your streaming/recording PC, right?

You will be able to see what's being captured inside of OBS just fine :)

I personally don't have any specific capture card recommendations, but since you won't need high resolutions or fast framerates you can probably go with anything really.

However, if you can I would try to stick with PCIe capture cards over USB to not run into bandwidth issues or latency issues when trying to capture two feeds at the same time.

I know there have been some support threads on here before about using dual capture cards, but in theory there shouldn't be any issues I don't think.

Good luck :)
