Color Key vs Chroma Key vs Luma Key

Hi

I'm currently using OBS and the NDI plugin to do livestreaming for my church in order to do lyric overlays. In our presentation software (Faithlife Proclaim) I'm doing a lower thirds lyric display and am able to set transparent backgrounds to a specific color, which i currently have set to black. What i'm wondering is in OBS when I add a video filter to remove the black background in order to setup the overlay, which is the best video filter to use for this? I've heard that Color Key is usually best for fixed images and graphics, where as Chroma key is better for like a studio green screen, but i don't have a good understanding of the difference between them and where luma key falls into this.

Could someone please explain the difference and when it's most appropriate to use which one?

Luma key acts the luminance or "brightness" values of an image . It's best suited for removing absolute black or white backgrounds. Happy streaming!

We've been trying to set up a Color Key or a Chroma Key (Green Screen) for Lyrics from Proclaim as well, but can't get it to work with any text color other than white.
We've really only been able to get a Luma Key to work while displaying White Lyrics only.
Does anyone know how to set-up a key from proclaim to OBS, that allows for most any color of to be displayed from Proclaim, and looks great over a background/image?
Thanks for any help!
