Closing laptop while streaming

I am currently running a livestream from an outdoor security camera that I wish to be visible all day, but don't necessarily need it live at night. In order to minimize network usage, I am wondering what would happen if I were to close the lid overnight. I understand that the stream would end, but upon opening the laptop in the morning and waking it, would the stream just start back up again? I would just start the stream manually, but unfortunately the whole setup is actually for someone else who isn't as well versed in technology.
