Clapperboard audio not being picked up

I run the Birthplace of the poet Dylan Thomas

We run events in the house which are to a live audience and livestreamed on Zoom. The participants are normally a pair of people having a group discussion.

I have recently purchase a Blue Yeti X microphone which I connect to a laptop (Windows 365, USB 2.0). Also connected is a PTZ camera.

I link into Zoom through OBS Studio. I used the mic pattern on setting 1 and setting 3

The problems I am having are:
  • For two talking heads the audio is fine. We have just had an event with an acoustic guitar playing singer. The vocals were fine – sometimes a bit lumpy but the audio from the guitar was virtually non existent. When the audience clap that is not picked up either

  • There is a latency between the audio and video. When I tried using a clapperboard and hand clap to assess the duration the sound of the clap was not recorded. It shows on the level display in OBS but very low compared to normal speech.

  • What can I do to correct this or is this microphone not capable to picking up sharp sounds.

  • The recording can be seen on Josh and Laila at www.youtube.com/dylanthomasbirthplace - guitar and singing starts about five minutes in

  • Hopefully you can point me in the right direction
