Choppy video leading to laggy audio (Elgato HD60 S+ on Mac)

Trying to get a friend's capture card working on his mac but when he started up OBS the preview has a choppy framerate (it's supposed to be a smooth 60fps), anyone know of any solutions as to fix that? The audio is lagging as well but we both think it's because the video is choppy and that if we fix the choppy video the audio lag should return to normal. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Im experiencing laggin of the video when I record from a browser (Create a Scene -> Sources: a browser tab). I have no idea why is this happening, because recording the whole monitor screen works fine. Maybe this is a similar issue with you?
