Question / Help Choppy Screen Recordings

Hello everyone!

Long story short:
I've had OBS before on PC and never experienced problems.
I've since been using a slightly dated MacBook Air.

The specs are as follows:
RAM: 8gb DDR3 1600 MHz
CPU: 1.6 GHz Intel i5
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB
OS: OSX Mojave
Storage: 120 GB HDD

Basically, my computer plays low level games no problem; I average at least 30fps. My screen recordings however come out really choppy running at around 6 and 12 fps. I have tried many configurations but without any noticeable differences.

Thanks!

I am having a similar problem with a 2015 MBP/16G/2TB-SSD. In my case I am capturing a window that is obscured underneath the OBS screen. It is both "choppy" and "flashy". It is a static preview window with a PNG in it. Should be easy to capture. Never have this problem on an old windows 10.

Would love to have a solution.

That machine cannot use the fast preset. Go down to veryfast at least and then adjust as required. Superfast may be required.

10:26:48.675: CPU Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5250U CPU @ 1.60GHz
10:32:41.650: [x264 encoder: 'recording_h264'] preset: fast

You're also overloading your integrated GPU:

10:50:27.039: Output 'adv_file_output': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 474 (8.8%)

So you probably have to lower your canvas resolution as well.
