Question / Help Cherry Programmable keypad, OBS Focus

OK, so i thought, a cheap(ish) G84-4700 programmable keypad would be a good way to bodge a streamdeck.

so i fire up OBS, set hotkeys to my scenes, and then fire up a game.

if i use a combination on my keyboard (eg CTRL-ALT-M) then OBS obeys, no problem, in the background, while i'm in-game.

if i press a programmed key on my keypad (programmed with CTRL-ALT-M as a macro), nothing. unless OBS is in the foreground and has focus. which is shit.

dont know if anyone else has tried this approach, but if anyone knows how to make the keyboard software macros get picked up by OBS when it's in the background, i'd be very happy. sadly the G84 is the USB version, so the macros are all stored in the local software, not written back to the hardware of the keyboard.

and by the by, i'm not blaming OBS (i dont think), it's probably windows 10 and the cherry software which is not working how i thought it would.

(Windows 10 Professional by the way)

i've tried that on the 2 background processes, doesn't seem to help. neither does changing the compatibility settings either :(

worth mentioning too, i added some macros to the Cherry for triggering GeForce Shadowplay, and they get picked up fine.
