Hi all,
I'm currently trying to document my development process for a game prototype. Just as a hobby, just for fun. And maybe in the hopes that some people follow me on Youtube and that pressure forces me to finish the project. But anyways:
OBS is perfect for me. I set up different scenes for my tools I want to show (Notion, Rider, Unity, Aseprite) with automatic switching. Works like a charm. Only issue: OBS so persistently demands window titles. Unity has lots of tools which open in own windows that do not even have any "Unity" in them. If I edit my sprites, the window is called "Sprite Editor" (maybe even with an asterik for unsaved changes).
That makes it super difficult to record it. These parts are essential as well, so a workaround would be Screen Capture. Not ideal, because i would like to stick to the window only and ideally isolate anything else from being recorded, but I can live with that. Problem: The automatic switching also relies on window titles and I can't really forsee which windows will open and how they are named.
So is there any feature or plugin that can simply check window focus for all windows of a specific process? I mean plugins like advanced scene switcher can detect all windows and even OBS can show you that X windows are from "unity.exe" - so ... why would it be so hard to check if ANY window got focus and perform actions based on that?
Is there a way? This really destroys the whole workflow. Ideally I would like to record only the focused window of any "unity.exe" windows - but I don't mind if at least the scene switcher would detect if I focus the Sprite Editor that it should switch to my Unity scene which uses Screen Capture instead of Window.
Any help would be lovingly appreciated!
PS: In case OBS can't do that even with plugins ... anyone know of an alternative that is capable of doing this?
