I am new to OBS, and have a few questions regarding recording audio that I can't quite figure out.
1> I need to record an HD-SDI signal that has 6 channels of embedded audio to an MP4 format. However, I need to be able to adjust the volume of each channel being recorded. I don't want to use an external hardware volume controller or mixer....will OBS and/or Voicemeeter allow me to do this? There are no other audio sources, just the embedded audio on the HD-SDI signal.
2> Can I monitor the audio being recorded ("solo" the tracks just for monitoring, not recording)? I know this is possible with the mixer built into OBS, but not sure given my scenario above. I need to monitor each channel separately, not all of them together, as each channel is a person talking (critiquing a theatrical performance).
3> Ideally I would like to record 6 TRACKS of audio, each track with 1 mono channel of audio (corresponding to the embedded channels of the HD-SDI signal). So channel 1 of the embedded signal would be recorded as Track 1. Channel 2 of the embedded HD-SDI signal would record to Track 2, etc. This is because my online web-player (JW Player) will allow the user to choose different Tracks of audio, however it will not allow the user to choose different channels (a Track can contain any number of Channels). I can use an encoding software with advanced audio-remapping capabilities but this will add another step and ideally we want to capture the video/audio and immediately send it to the internet for viewing.
3> Out of curiosity, what are the best Video Capture utilities around? Cost isn't really an issue. Is there something other than OBS that might work for me? I'm figuring the very high-end video capture market must have something all the pros use....
Thank You!
