I would like to capture at a very high resolution, say 4K, then be able to zoom into the capture in a regular 1080p compostion in my editing software.

I've searched the forum/google but so far not able to find out if this is possible in OBS.

Thanks!

If you are asking if you can capture in a higher resolution than your game resolution, then no, it is not possible.

You need to play in 4K if you want to capture in 4K.

If you want a 4K canvas to fill with different things, then yeah, go ahead. But I don't think that's what you want.

Not too ancient Nvidia cards have a feature called DSR ("Dynamic Super Resolution") where the desktop gets a virtual resolution up to 4x the native resolution and scaled down for the monitor to display. Windows "thinks" it has a 4k monitor connected while it is actually only full HD, and so do all apps/games. They render in the virtual DSR resolution. So with DSR you can record with 4k while having only full hd monitor. You activate DSR in Nvidia control panel.

Is there a way to do this with AMD cards? I have tried using the built in Custom Resolutions and it says "Your monitor doesn't support this resolution" and then I downloaded an app called CRU and when I use that it allows me to add it but it doesn't show up in the windows display settings
