Hi, I am trying to capture the output of Steam Deck using a USB capture card to create some videos. I have purchased a really cheap USB C capture device from Amazon by a company called Soomfon for less than $25, just to test if this would work.
I have attached the Capture device to the HDMI output of the Steam Deck Dock and then into a USB C port on a Linux PC. When setup and adding the USB capture source in OBS I can only see coloured bars. I have tested other input sources (which work fine) and different operating systems to attempt the capture content but still only see coloured bars.
I'm guessing I was being a bit ambitious trying to do this with such a cheap device. Can anyone tell me if they have captured output from the Steam Deck (is it encoded maybe?) and suggest a better capture device to make this work?
Thanks in advance
