Capturing application window also captures empty area

Hi, total OBS newbie here.

I want to capture an application window, but there is empty space also captured in the video and I'm not able to remove it! Cropping only strips away from the application window but I want to remove the empty space in my scene, not the window!

You can see the scene in this screenshot, and the black area below the window is also captured.

How can I resize the scene to fit the application window?

Thanks!

Problem is, the application is maximized and cant be stretched more. I guess I could restore the window and make it larger than the screen, but that doesn't seem like it should be necessary. I should be able to resize the capture area instead.

I think I found the solution.

In my attempts to figure this out I had applied a crop filter which caused OBS to not be able to resize the output properly.
I removed the crop filter and then found the "Resize output (source size)"-alternative in the right click menu for the source. This seems to resize the output to fit the source.

Thanks!
