Question / Help Capture Device?

I am looking for an HDMI capture device that works with OBS. I have a Sony HD Handycam that outputs HDMI that I want to use to broadcast live to Facebook or Youtube.

I am considering a used Hauppauge Colossus PCI Express Internal HD-PVR but I'd like to know if it can be used with OBS as a Video Capture Device? I thought I read somewhere that because this device does x264, it can't be used with OBS?

If not, what would you recommend that is reasonable in price? All I need is to capture HDMI and offer it to OBS. No other frills needed.

Not well, you're better off with something like a blackmagic intensity or the startech cards.

What about the AVerMedia HD DVR High Definition / Analog Video Capture Card PCI-E, HDMI, RCA Composite, Component, S-Video, Win 10 (C027)?

Specs look like it only does up to 1080i, not 1080p. What video format does your Handycam output?

From here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2339933,00.asp :

The HDR-SR11 captures video at 1,920-by-1,080 interlaced at 60 frames per second, a high-enough resolution to please most people. But if you want more flexibility, Canon's Vixia HV30 does a few more tricks: It, too, records at 1,920 by 1,080, but it lets you choose either 60 fps interlaced, 30 fps progressive (good for extracting still images), or 24 fps progressive (to simulate motion recorded by film).

So I think that capture card looks like a good match. You don't need 1080p60 capabilities. And if you use component out with your camera I think it can do that too.
