Capture cards and camcorder

I'm hoping someone can help me. When I first turn on my computer and plug in my capture box (mirabox video capture) attached to a Panasonic HC 870 camcorder it works. If the camcorder turns itself off or I unplug the capture device I then can't get the camcorder to reconnect to OBS which is strange. I have tried shutting down obs, restarting the computer but with no luck. Leave it overnight and all seem to work again. Anyone have any ideas? the capture box is seen and is brought up on my drop down list.
