Question / Help Capture a VM screen from the host

I am trying to understand OBS Studio and cannot find an up to date Guide or tutorial.
Are there any?
There are so many jargon words that I feel I will never be able too understand how to use OBS Studio.

What I am trying to do is capture the events happening in a virtual machine display from the host.
Is it possible with OBS or do I need to look for some other S/w?

You should be able to use Window Capture to do this. In the Sources pane, below the preview right click, choose Add and select Window Capture from the list, click OK and then in the Window drop down choose the application for your VM display. I have no idea if this actually works and may well depend on the application you are using to connect to the VM. If you can't get it to work then providing some extra details would be helpful like what type of VM, how are you connecting, a screen shot of what you are trying to capture, all that kind of thing.

I am using Virtualbox to provide a Host for a number of Virtual machines.
This Win 10 host has OBS Studio installed. What I am looking for is a capture of the VM window (sized smaller than the host window) to allow me to check what is happening when I try to update the Win10 guest and it goes wrong. I am getting a 'blue screen' as part of some dialog I do not know from where as it disappears as fast as it appears and I get no time to read it's contents. I can't give you a screen shot as all I get is a Black screen in the preview pane.
I am having trouble uploading the log file all 6kb of it.

Hi

I did a quick test and it works fine for me, I have a Windows 10 x86 VM running in VirtualBox and have captured the VM window in OBS no problem using Window Capture. I've attached a couple of images, one showing the OBS config (not complex at all) and one showing VirtualBox. I have done nothing complicated with the VM most importantly (maybe) I have not enabled any acceleration under the Display options for the VM, if you have these enabled I would suggest switching them off as the first step in your troubleshooting.
