Question / Help Can't stream using x264, but I can record on x264 without problems

Hello.

I tried to stream on the x264 setting. Both my base and output resolutions are 1280x720 and 30 FPS.
I use a GV-USB2 capture card to stream.

The problem is that 'Encoding Overloaded' message appears and the stream starts to lag. CPU is around 70%, and sometimes the message appears at 50%. I wasn't recording at the same time obviously.
Even on Superfast, the problem occurred.

After that, I tried to record only, same resolution, same x264 (NOT the one with lower CPU). Indishtinguiable quality.
And CPU didn't even go over 20%, and was high quality when I checked the video.

I can even record in 1440p, 30fps without problems I tried earlier on an emulator.

My stats:
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k.
NVIDIA GEForce GTX 660Ti.
8GB RAM.

How the hell is it NOT possible to stream 720p, but it is when recording only?
It's just so weird. My OBS is up to date (18.0.1)

Help would be really appreciated, as I'm stuck with NVENC when streaming atm.

Ok so, I wanted to test it again and got no high CPU anymore. I don't know if it's fixed somehow, but could it be that during the stream changing CPU preset didn't work?

This session I was on medium and it all worked fine, browser window open with my stream fully running.
I don't understand why I had problems at first, or maybe next streams? I'm still not happy since I don't know if it's fixed yet, or if my CPU or whatever is still unstable. This session, my CPU did not go over 30%.

Anyway, still decided to post the log file on this successful stream.

I hope this helps, and if there are 'errors' in the log/setup, let me know what to improve to stream with a stable 20-40% range CPU usage.

Help and useful information would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Ok so, I read about a Game Mode giving more performance.
Would that work in OBS? Trick Windows thinking OBS is a game, so it focuses on that.

Obviously, I still need some info about the log I posted.

Thanks.

The log you provided has no stream/recording attempt in it.

Please post a link to a clean log file. To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.
