Can't start OBS: Smart App Control

Hello, I am using Windows 11 and OBS since last year and had smaller to no problems at all.

But I was trying to open OBS after a week of not using (last log from 29th july, no problems at that day) and now my Windows 11 system is blocking it. Basically translates to like:

"C:/Program Files/obs-studio/bin/64bit/obs64.exe was blocked because we cannot confirm who wrote that program and we are unsure if that app can be trusted"

Googling that gives me just a windows help page, stating that the file has no digital signature and therefore cant be trusted.

Since it is getting blocked before opening, no log file is generated. Current system build is 26100.4652.

Same message appears when I try to use the installer from the homepage. OBS 31.1.2-Windows-x64-Installer. So a reinstallation is also not possible.

There is an older thread regarding this from like 2-3 weeks ago but it had no reply so I hope that someone may have a solution for me (that is NOT to deactivate smart app control, if possible...)

Thanks in advance :)

Probably going to have turn off Smart App control. Not sure why it went from evaluation mode to active but if I disable it, I cant activate it again. Would prefer if there is a workaround, else yeah, deactivating it is then...

Both of those files should be digitally signed, either your system clock is incorrect or you are behind on Windows Updates or something similar that is preventing the signature check from working. Check the file properties / digital signature tab for more details.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply. I was doublechecking my system again and did remove the latest windows update and reinstall it. Somehow that fixed my problem but I am not sure why suddenly the digital signature was missing and a simple windows-update reinstall did help with that.
