Question / Help Can't seem to find 'happy medium'

Afternoon (or morning, for that matter)

I'm sure you get plenty of threads like this every day - and even though i'd like to scroll through previous conversations, i feel like each situation is different.

I can't seem to stream h1z1 'lag free'.

Even when it says '0 frames dropped' with no CPU or ENCODER warnings, i notice it skipping on my mobile (while checking the stream quality)

I've bounced the settings all over the place, for the last few nights..and seem to get the same result (even without webcam overlay)

I'm in Australia, with Telstra NBN. So usually a comfortable 70mbps/30. I did however, just do a test at testmy.net - which brought up 15/11 which i thought was strange. (Peak times maybe?) Would this account for much of the issue?

(Excuse my ignorance surrounding Tech; i added everything i thought might be of use here:)
PC Stats:
Widnows 10
AMD FX™-770k Quad Core Processor 3.50 GHz
16g Installed Ram.
64-bit OS, x64-based processor
AMD Radeon (TM) R9 255
Total Available Graphics Memory: 10211 MB
Dedicated Video Memory: 2048 MB

The only setting i really changed were the following:
*Streaming*
Video Bitrate: 1500 (lowest i went)
Audio Bitrate: 128 (lowest i went)
Encoder Preset: Slower -> ultrafast (and most of the in-betweens)
Downscale Filter: Tried all 3
FPS: I left that at 29.97

I have attached an image of Screenshots with the above information.

I guess what i'm asking is, if YOU had MY computer; what would you set OBS settings to?

Cheers

Hi,

Yeah we get alot :-). Your issues without an obs log to provide it will be your CPU. The x264 software will be spanking to CPU even on ultra fast as the AMD 770k is weak. To steam you need a decent cpu to handle the encoding this one is a weak link hence you are getting lag in H1z1 as the cpu is being used to the max by obs and h1z1.

If you Upload is 30mb then you have plently of bandwidth once you can resolve the cpu bottle neck.

How to post the obs log is a stricky on the forum.

I did notice all the mention of logs, however i was convinced my CPU is the problem, and figured it'd be confirmed quite quickly after posting my PC stats.

Now, on to 'overcoming the issue'.

Is it as straight forward as, say; buying an i7 6700k and "chucking it in", or would it be more beneficial to consider a complete package upgrade?

You need to look into amd cpu's because an Intel won't fit into that motherboard. But if you want to get into streaming you due for a full upgrade anyways imo.

Mobo, cpu, ram will need changing if your going for intel. to steam you need cpu, the 6700 is find but imo i would get a 6 core as the encoding can be tough on the cpu and will give you some headroom down the road. The GPU isn't great so if you have the cash this also.
