Question / Help Can't run games with OBSMP running.

It seems like I can't run games when OBS is running. The game always crashes if I try. I have to launch the game first, then launch OBS, which makes switching games during a stream really annoying.
How can I remedy this?

Might have to do with Steam overlay, a friend of mine has had problems with it and other stuff. You can try disabling it (right click the game in your library -> properties -> checkbox "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game")

Also, if they're in fullscreen window mode, I think you have to use Window Capture in OBS.

I have the same issue with CSGO and Rocket League.

I use to have to close OBS-MP to launch the games, but after the update I can get away with just switching scenes to one that isn't polling for the game I'm trying to launch, then switching back after I launch it.

I've only tested the new update with Rocket League, though.

I run CSGO in fullscreen and Rocket League in windowed fullscreen, for what it's worth, and both capture fine once they're running.

Steam overlay has no effect on the game launch crashes, either.

I guess I'll try that. Seems like a good temporary fix, since I can't get it to work in Windowed mode and the Steam overlay doesn't seem to be an issue.
