Question / Help Can't record 4K video

Hi. I am new to OBS, but have been doing successful recording from a 1080p source for a while now. I just upgraded to a 4K capture device but OBS does not seem to want to pick up the new capabilities. When I go to Settings > Video, my base resolution only has the option for 1920x1080 or 1280x720, same for Output. My capture device (a Magewell USB Capture HDMI 4K Plus ) has a little utility which I can load that confirms it is providing a 3840x2160 signal. If I manually enter 3840x2160 into those parameters; rather than use a drop-down option, I get a preview window with a big canvas but my video proportionally looks like it is still 1920x1080. And it has red borders. Any ideas what I am doing wrong please?

You are taking the correct approach by entering the canvas and output resolution manually. To reset the size of the capture card source, right-click the source->Transform->Reset transform. If this doesn't work, delete the source and add it again. If, at the time of adding the source, you got a frame with 4k resolution from the capture card, the source should be 4k-sized as well.
The red borders indicate you cropped this source in the past to make it smaller. To completely reset the source, delete it and add it again.

Thanks. Turns out the Capture Device was "throttling" my signal. Found a well hidden setting that let me produce the 3840x2160 output from the capture device. Going great now.

Hi, I have the exact same issue, when I add my recorder as source the resolution is blank and it doesn't say nothing, how did you fix this problem?
