Can't link my Youtube account to OBS

Hello,
I just downloaded OBS and I am trying to get connect it to my Youtube account so that I can use OBS to display chat comments while streaming.
When I go to Settings -> Stream OR Auto-configuration wizard and try to link my youtube account, it takes me to a login screen and says the linking is successful (Pic 2), but when I go back to OBS, nothing has changed (Pic 3). I have seen in several tutorial videos that it should say "connected account" (Pic 1).

I am a M1 Macbook user on Big Sur, living in China using a VPN. I never have any issues connecting or streaming from youtube using my VPN

any advice or links to videos that help would be appreciated. I did a search and couldnt find a thread with a similar problem.

we use the You Tube chat as its easier . On the home page of your account or in studio !
