Question / Help Can't install OBS version 22.0.2 on my windows 8.1 pc

I downloaded OBS version 22.0.2 for Windows 8.1 and ran it and it came to the set up. It says it will guide me through the installation and i'm able to click next. Once I click next it says i'm missing runtime components and asks if i want to download them. I clicked yes and it brings me to a page to download Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable [64 bit] - vc2017redist_x64.exe. I download it and install it and it says I have it. I run OBS installer and it still says I don't have the files. I've checked in my files for it and I do have Visual C++ 2017. I don't really know what to do to fix this.

You need to install both the 64 and 32 bit versions.

Can you please give me a screenshot of the error, and of the part of the Programs and Components screen that show the two components installed? Thanks.

I would suggest removing those two, and either installing the ones from the direct links provided at the OBSProject page, or, assuming those are the ones you did use, downloading the ones directly from MS instead:

I'm wondering if maybe there is a version mismatch or something. At least one poster that had this problem solved it by installing a different version.

Still doesn't work and i download them from the Microsoft website

Given that you're on Windows 8, maybe try the older 2013 packages? Just an idea.
