Thanks in advance for any guidance and thanks to the developers of this tremendous open source product. I am recording old VHS tapes through a product called "Easier Cap Capture USB 2.0 Video Adapter with Audio". I'm shocked that it works so well with your product. However I can't hear the VHS audio while recording but can when I playback. Any suggestions on settings that would allow me to hear the audio while recording? Thanks again. Joe

As default, audio from a capture device is transferred directly from the capture device through OBS to the recording. It's not going to any Windows audio device, so you are not able to hear it directly. To monitor this audio source, call Edit->Advanced Audio properties and locate the audio source from your capture device. In the "Audio monitoring" of that source, change the entry from "Monitor off" to "Monitor and output".
This way, the audio is duplicated. One audio stream is still output to the recording, and the second one is fed to the audio device you set with Settings->Audio->Advanced->Monitoring device. This is the audio device "default" if you never changed it, and "default" means your regular Windows desktop audio (usually Speakers). Make sure you are not at the same time recording this device with OBS, otherwise you get a feedback loop.
