I did that and it worked before, but now I just can't hear skype at all when I do it.

Might want to try SoundFlower. WavTap works some people and SoundFlower works for others. In my case, SoundFlower works for me every time.

It's the same thing. WavTap was working before just fine. But I'm not sure why it's not now.

Perhaps skype lets users configure which speakers to output to? If that's the case, then you have to select soundflower/wavtap in skype settings, but I would have to see the configuration for myself to know.

I had done that, and that's why I can't hear skype, because I change it to wavtap. I set the output for my sound preferences on the system as WavTap and then went to Skype and set the output as WavTap and as soon as I do that, I can no longer hear Skype.

Things that play in to wavtap should be rerouted back out to your speakers/headphones/etc, if they don't then it sounds like a configuration issue. There are some extra tips in the wavtap thread here if you need to configure wavtap to rerout out to speakers/headerphones and such: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/setting-up-mac-desktop-sound-capture-with-wavtap.16524/

However without seeing it first hand I'm not 100% sure. I'm pretty much betting that it's just a configuration issue.

Thank you very much, it was what you suspected. I am eternally grateful!

Here. Open audio midi make a multi output device select output and soundflower 2ch then make an aggregate device. Open obs go to audio and click desktop audio and click soundflower 2 ch. Now open skype and open preferences and click audio make ringing and speakers your multi output device and your done. You can now record your skype call and hear it! Just make sure you have your headphones in.
