Question / Help Can't get source switching to work

Hey, folks. I am having a devil of a time trying to get moving with this, despite numerous YT videos and attempts to glean something from the manual. I have all the settings fine, as far as I know. I want to record tutorials of word processing applications.
What I can't get to work is source switching. I have created two scenes: one is display capture, the other has two sources. One source is a jpeg, the other is a 45-sec video I recorded with OBS. If I put the jpeg source at top, that's what a I see; if put the video source at top, I still see the jpeg, unless I double click on the video, which opens the properties box, which I don't want. When I close the properties, the video shows but it also plays, and I have no way to stop it until it finishes and disappears again.
I want to show the jpeg while I speak for a bit, then start the video with voice over, then return to the jpeg, before switching to the display capture scene. I'll have the same problem with that scene, because I want to be able to show some additional sources during that as well. First things first.

Can someone help me out here, please? As an amateur video editor, I never expected to have so much trouble learning OBS.
Thank you.

Use OBS' functionality to show and hide sources. It's the eye symbol next to the lock symbol in your list of sources. You can use this as unhide+start/stop button for your video at the same time. Set the video source to "Restart playback when source becomes active". Put your video source over your image source, so the video obscures the image if it's playing.
Click the eye symbol next to the source name and hide the video. Now you see your image. Now, instead of double clicking your video source, click the eye symbol again to show the video. It unhides, starts playing at the start, and the whole thing looks like as if the video replaces the image. If you click the eye symbol of your video again, the video disappears and you see your image again.

Thank you. Sorry for the delay in my response; busy life. I look forward to applying this and moving ahead on the weekend.
