Question / Help Can't get noise gate to work properly

I have a sorta fancy mic, the CAD U37, and the issue I have is noise gate cutting off first syllables of my speech. Basically it doesn't turn on the mic fast enough. If I set the noise gate to turn on the mic to less sound, then it introduces background noise, the keyboard/controller being most annoying. I have the mic 3 inches from my mouth btw.

Is there anything that can be done? I see streamers use noise gate very successfully without cutting off first syllables of speech.

If your background noise is at the same level as your speech, there's very little a noise gate can do to help you. Find a way to damp the background noise and things will improve.
