Hi I’m new to OBS and appreciate the free software and all the work that has gone into developing it. I need some help. My goal is to set up a livestream 24/7 on Youtube direct, available to the public from my chicken coop and chicken yard. (Wanting to give kids in CV19 lockdown something to do.) I have purchased two cameras which I believe are compatible with OBS, they are: FOSCAM 2.0 MEGAPIXEL FULL HD WATERPROOF IP CAMERA Model # FC-FI9902P.
My hubby and I have spent two whole days trying to get the cameras view to show up in OBS. We have read and watched so many tutorials on how to do this and believe we have done everything correctly but still get a black screen when we enter camera details in OBS. Hoping there is something simple that will fix this. I will outline what we have already done which hasn’t worked.
HAVE installed VLC, and yes we can get a picture on both cameras using VLC, by “Open Network Stream”, then enter RTSP URL, then enter username and password for camera for RTSP Authentication. We have established four different versions of the RTSP URL which ALL WORK and will show us pictures on VLC, and they work in the Foscam app on my phone and in the computer login for Foscam also works and shows camera pictures. But, when we enter the same URLs (and have tried all four versions) in OBS we still can’t get any picture from the cameras in OBS. Everything I have read tells me that if the cameras work in VLC then they should work in OBS.
These are the ways we have tried to Add a Source to OBS with no luck:
+ Add a Source, VLC Video Source, Create New, OK, + Playlist, Add Path/URL, then we past the RTSP URL, ok, ok.
+ Add a Source, Media Source, Create New, OK, untick Local File, paste RTSPURL into Input, ok.
Also tried + Add a Source, Video Capture device – it automatically shows the picture (me) on the computer’s webcam. Tried changing to AVerMedia Capture but can’t find any options to input URL.
This is the format of RTSP URL we have tried:
rtsp://CameraIPaddress:88/videoMain
rtsp://@ CameraIPaddress/videoMain
rtsp://camerausername:camerapassword@ CameraIPaddress:88/videoMain
rtsp://cameraname:camerapasswrod@ CameraIPaddress:88/videoMain
All of the above formats work in VLC after it asks for RTSP Authentication (username & password). We can see the camera images in VLC. But not in OBS.
If anyone can tell me how to get this working I will be VERY GRATEFUL.
Oh another thing – don’t know if it’s supposed to, but cameras do not appear on my list of wifi devices on my computer. We have tried to “Add a device” but they don’t appear in the searches.
Thanks for any help anyone can give me. I’ll be back and forwards throughout the day checking if anyone has responded.
Jill
