Can't connect webcam to OBS

Hi, I'm totally new to this and feeling out of my depth. I've downloaded OBS and am trying to set things up to livestream a church service. I've [plugged the camera into my laptop using HDMI but OBS isn't picking it up.

Any advice welcome!

In the source list click + and click add video capture device. add the camera as a source..

Thanks. I was using an HDMI cable but when I switched to USB I was able to connect the camera.

Now to try top get the audio going!
