Canon 5D Mark III - no audio

ok so my scene is test. in my source i have one labeled camlink5d. i'm using the elgato camlink 4k. connected mini hdmi to hdmi into the camlink then into the usb port on my laptop. i have a a RODE mic plugged into the 5D. however i'm not getting any audio on the stream. i'm getting it if i record in the camera but nothing out of the stream. i'm checking the audio mixer and no mic volume feedback. can someone help?

just tested it. hooked directly mini hdmi to my canon and full size hdmi to tv. no audio at all. but it monitors it it on the camera. so when i record on my camera the playback from the recorded stuff the audio is there. its just not doing it LIVE.
