When I pull down from "help" to "check for updates" I get this dialog box:
"Program currently active
Outputs are currently active, please shut down any active outputs before attempting to update."
So I created a scene collection called "empty" and switched to that. I put both cameras and into scene one, deactivated the cameras and muted the audio. When I check for updates, I still get the same result.
Next I exited out of OBS and attempted to update manually with a fresh download. I got this result:
"OBS Studio 21.1.2 setup
Error opening file for writing:
C:\Program Files (x86)\obs-studio\bin\32-bit\avutil-55.dll
Click Retry to try again, or
Cancel to stop the installation.
Retry | Cancel "
I figured there was a service in play, avutil-55.dll.
So "ctrl-alt-del" --> task manager --> services...
It's not there. Nothing under processes remotely looking like OBS
I tried rebooting and manually reinstalling directly after windows had finished booting. No luck.
Lastely, I tried unplugging cameras and mics, then updating... No luck.
What should I be doing that I'm not doing?
If I uninstall OBS and reinstall a new version, will I lose all my settings?
