Question / Help Cannot Start OBS "Failed to initialize video"

After selecting to use an NVIDIA GPU in OBS and rebotting OCS will not open. How to fix the problem?

Can anyone check the renderer value in their global.ini?

Found it without a minute to spare

"%appdata%\obs-studio\global.ini and change Renderer= from OpenGL to Direct3D 11"

In the future you can avoid this type of problem by not changing advanced options you aren't familiar with. :)

Just in case someone else has changed an advanced option whilst unfamiliar with it...

I found it in AppData\Roaming\OBS\\global.ini and change Renderer= from OpenGL to Direct3D 11" worked for me in OBS 64bit

Well it's actually the software design fault, if you're an AMD user that then switches out cards to a Nvidia card the sotware gives this fault. Software should be recognizing this change and restoring default video settings.

This has nothing to do with what brand of GPU you have. Nor does the renderer have anything to do with that.
