I have installed OBS, downloaded and installed updates for same. Plugged the device into my vcr and the usb plug into my computer. I evidently do not know how to get the video to display within OBS so as to save it as a digital file. Is there a step or steps that I am missing?

Have you added a Video Capture Device source to your scene in OBS?
Does the USB video capture device come with other software, and if so, does it work in that software?
