Cannot add my NikonD3100 camera in Obs anymore

As I use my laptop at home and on tour I repeatly disconnect my camera hdmi and capture card which sometimes leads to lost camera sources. Normally this was no problem as I just added my camera again. But now obs gives no feedback after trying to add my camera again.. any ideas? deleting and reinstalling OBS did not help
