Question / Help Can I use different settings for recording and using the replay buffer?

So basically I like to have high quality clips from replay buffer, so I use a 50k bitrate with AMD's H.264 encoder

But sometimes I like to record my games in addition to using the replay buffer so I have the entire length of the game if I want to upload that as a whole, but using a 50k bitrate for recording uses an insane amount of HDD storage. Is there a way I could keep the 50k for replay buffer yet turn recording down to like 15k or something?

You can't. Buffer just keeps some part of already encoded data in memory, and if requested - flushes it to the disk. Thus it consumes only RAM and video still encoded by the recording's encoder.

  1. Don't use View Mode Master, unless you know what you are actually doing. View Mode Master is used to test very specific things and is extremely strongly recommended against use in daily recording.
  2. CBR is not ideal for Disk recording, try CQP or VBR.
  3. Do not ever modify QP Minimum and Maximum! These pretty much control how much the encoder can actually compress, so you just shot yourself in the foot with those changes in the screenshot.
  4. Changing master parameters do not have much effect unless you are building the plugin yourself. Especially Maximum Reference Frames.

thanks for the reply, only reason I changed it to that was to edit some qp values that i was recommended, thus why my qp was modified... but yeah I guess I could stick to presets

EDIT: @Xaymar I'm pretty sure I already use your encoder...
