If i look at the output from the camera linked via hdmi and elgato camlink 4k in any app (zoom, Skype, elgato hd game capture etc) the framerate is perfect and smooth. I can clearly see it has the same 24fps i set on my camera. However inside OBS the frame drops a lot. This is true of recording, streaming, virtual camera or just the preview window.
I found this guide explains how to put the camlink into Isochronous mode at the bottom. However this doesn't work for me. OBS still continues to render less frames and these other apps work fine. My iMac OS is a 6 core 3Ghz intel i7 with 16gb ram.
